There are many interesting things about the Deloitte Business Card that you may not know.
1. Deloitte actually existed before 1847
In fact, Deloitte’s formation began in 1847 and the company was originally called Deloitte & Touche. It was founded by two Frenchmen, one of whom is known today as Charles Deloitte. He was a member of the Paris Bar association and a tax advisor in Paris till he died. The other brother, James Touche Deloitte, joined him in founding the firm that is now known as Deloitte & Touche.
2. It has been around for more than 150 years now
Deloitte has been around for more than 150 years now, being founded on 14th May 1847. Although it is a global company, it has its origins in France.
3. Deloitte &Touche was the first firm to be listed in the Paris stock market
Deloitte and Touche were the first firms to be listed in the Paris stock exchange. The reason for this is because of a scandal that occurred in 1856. French politicians and businessmen were accused of misusing public funds and there was an extensive investigation into their activities by the Auditor General of France. When this issue came out, people started to boycott some of the businesses that had ties with them, hence causing severe financial problems for many companies at that time.
The firm had been in continuous operation since 1847 and it survived the scandal, securing its place as a leading firm on the Paris Exchange. It was never again raided by government officials or experienced any other scandal like the one that happened in 1856.
4. The firm is now led by Arthur Andersen
The current chairman of Deloitte is Arthur Andersen, who took over in 2002 after serving as an executive for 20 years with the company. Under his leadership, Deloitte became one of the largest accounting firms in the world in terms of revenue and employee count. He joined Deloitte after graduating from Harvard University with a Master’s degree and then Harvard Business School where he earned an MBA. He has helped the company grow its influence and revenue even more since taking over its reins.

6. There are more than 250,000 people from 90 countries around the world associated with the company
DBC has 250,000 employees all over the world. The most populous country in terms of the number of employees that work for Deloitte is Canada, followed by The UK and then India. However, Deloitte has more employees in Asia than any other continent. Only about 260 employees are right here in Texas so this may be somewhat surprising.
