I love to use a bookmark in Chrome. It’s the perfect distraction to a new project. If you have a lot of tabs open, bookmark them in Chrome. If you’re in a hurry, bookmark them in Chrome.
But sometimes you just want a quick one, or one that you can do something quickly using the backspace key. It’s easy to delete a tab on Chrome, but you need to go to the settings page for that tab and then click on the Delete button to remove it. Here’s how to remove an all-new tab in Chrome.
If you do it the way I do it, you end up with just one bookmark. But if you do it the way I do it, your Chrome history will be a mess. You can delete a bookmark from the Chrome menu, or from the desktop. But to get rid of a bookmark from the Chrome menu, you have to click on the chrome://settings/bookmarks page.
The first time I went to the Chrome settings page, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to delete my all-new tab. I clicked on the Delete button, but the settings page said “This account has been disconnected from the Chromium extension registry.” I clicked on “Yes” and it deleted the tab. But it also deleted all of my bookmarks.
To delete a tab from Chrome, click on the Chrome menu. Click on the Chrome menu. Click on the tab. If the bookmark has moved to the new tab, it will be grayed out. Click on the page that says The new tab page. Click on the delete button or click on the button that says Delete Bookmark. You can’t delete a bookmark from the desktop or from the Chrome menu.
This is an annoyance, because it is extremely difficult to delete a tab on your desktop without also having to delete all of your bookmarks. This is the same issue with Google Chrome, so if you want to delete a tab, you need to open a new tab.
For some reason, this is a problem that Chrome is still not solving. To be honest, I have not found a way to easily delete a tab from the web browser.
This problem is not an issue on Windows or Mac, and it is not an issue on Android, which has Google’s Chrome browser.
Chrome will only allow you to delete a tab if you have a bookmarks folder in it. If you have bookmarks in your Chrome, but not in the bookmarks folder, you will not have the ability to delete the tab. In the future, it might be possible to disable this functionality, but right now it seems to be an onerous and confusing limitation.
If you want to delete a tab, you can do so by going to the Chrome menu, selecting “options” and scrolling down to “bookmarks.” Then, from the list of bookmarks, select the tab you want to delete. You can also right-click this tab for a list of all the tabs you have, but it is not a great way to remove the tab.
