This means that even though doing something that we do for our own reasons and for our own good in the long term can be rewarding and motivating, we tend to think about others when we are being motivated. Being able to think about others is a skill which needs time and work but once it’s been achieved it helps make us much more productive as well as much more motivated.

Being motivated by others is definitely a good thing. We all benefit from others, and it can be very helpful for us to think about other people when we are trying to motivate ourselves. But it’s also important that we do things for our own reasons as well as for others, otherwise we may feel unmotivated at times because we’re not focused on what really matters to us.

Sometimes life throws you some curveballs, and rather than having your motivation lessen or stop altogether because of these curve balls, you should be flexible in your motivation and use the curve balls as motivations themselves instead.
