1. Disable the Flash

For example, when you are facing the sun, your smartphone will automatically turn off its own flash. However, some people prefer to keep their phone at full camera functionality even in bright lighting conditions.
2. Turn off your Flash
Even though the auto-off function usually has an extremely short delay between when you press the shutter key and when it actually takes a photo, you should still disable its flash in most situations. Most smartphones already have a built-in flash which is not only very bright but also very harsh in terms of color saturation; thus making it useless for indoor shooting. Therefore, unless you have a specific reason for using the flash, you should turn this function off.
3. Enable “On-Camera Flash”
If you want to toggle the flash without turning it off, then you should head to your smartphone’s settings and then look for the “On Camera Flash” setting. There are times when this setting is missing and other times when it is present but not functional. In order to get this function enabled, simply tap on it and then select the right option that corresponds with your needs. This setting will allow you to have the lighting on your subject controlled. For example, if you set this to “Weak”, then your subject will be lit by the light from the flash itself.

In fact, you can take snapshots of both moving and stationary objects; and then use them as blurred backgrounds in your final composition.
5. Understand the Ambient Light Sensor

7. Adjust the White Balance
Most smartphones are equipped with a white balance setting that allows you to alter the color temperature of your captures. For example, if you’re shooting at night, sometimes the overall light can be too yellowish. However, by altering this setting you can produce less yellow and more neutral looking images.
8. Keep it Steady!
Smartphones are not that big and can easily be balanced against other objects. As a result, you should have absolutely no problem holding the camera phone by hand. However, in order to create better and sharper images, it is important to use your hands effectively. In other words, you should tilt or move your camera phone as little as possible while taking a photo.
9. Experiment with the White Balance
When it comes to smartphone camera functions, there are a lot of things that you can change. However, some are more important than others, especially when you want to take photos in different lighting conditions. For example, remember that you can use the white balance functionality to alter the color temperature of your images. In other words, if you want to take a shot of a white object but find that it is too yellow in its appearance, then you should be able to change this setting; and still end up with a photo that looks good.
10. Use the Panorama Mode
If your smartphone is capable of turning your phone into a panoramic camera, then it may be worth using the panoramic mode occasionally. For example, this can be used for capturing large objects and scenes.
